As flying cars are becoming more and more popular, Volkswagen, Europe's largest automaker, says that it is conducting a feasibility study to consider launching its flying car business in China.

Volkswagen says that in addition to autonomous driving, the vertical mobility concept could be the next step into the future, especially in the Chinese market. “As a result, we are conducting a feasibility study to investigate potential concepts and partners to determine the possibility of industrializing flying cars."

Herbert Diess, CEO of Volkswagen, posted a video of a conversation on LinkedIn with Stephan Woellenstein, the head of Volkswagen China. Woellenstein said that Volkswagen hoped to develop a licensed unmanned aerial vehicle to lay the foundation for participating in the future market in this field.

It is worth noting that the development of flying cars has become increasingly popular. In addition to large companies such as Volkswagen and Airbus, companies like Joby in the United States, Lilium and Volocopter in Germany are also developing flying cars.

Lilium, a German flying car company, said in November last year that it would build its first US hub near Orlando, Florida, which covers a range of 300 kilometers (185 miles), and then more than 20 million Floridians will be able to take a flying taxi.

In December last year, German aircraft maker Volocopter GmbH officially announced its launch of the “air taxi” business in Singapore, with the goal of having it online within three years. (Source: Tencent News)
