House construction is usually carried out outside the factory, but what if the house construction can be completed on an efficient assembly line in the factory and transported to the site?
The whole house may be too large to be transported, but what if the house is made foldable and only 8 feet wide (a size that can meet shipping requirements) after being folded, and then can be unfolded and assembled on the site?
In June of this year, Boxabl moved into a giant factory which covers an area of 170,000 square feet, and planned to produce one Casita house every 90 minutes by the end of 2022—that is, the annual production capacity of 3000-4000 houses.
The assembly of the house is also extremely fast. According to the official information from Boxabl, the assembly time will take one hour to one day according to the configuration.
This is equivalent to the time that it takes to have a meal outside. An 8-foot-wide "House Express" can be unfolded into a 37-square-meter house.
According to Boxabl, it takes an average of seven months to build such a house under regular construction. In these 7 months, Boxabl can produce more than 200 sets of prefabricated houses, which is still on the premise that there is no mass production.
However, in the current state, what prevents Boxabl from reaching more customers is the freight. Starting from Las Vegas, where the company is headquartered, the freight is expected to be 2-10 dollars per mile. If it is sent overseas, the freight will be very high.
